Case Study: Implementation of an Electronic Document Management System

Speaker: Earl Rich, CRM

Most organizations (public or private) have an enormous amount of electronic information to deal with. This clutter bogs down system resources, exposes the organization to undue legal risk, costs a fortune to back-up, and is generally an administrative nightmare for everyone involved (especially Records Managers).

Don't miss this talk by Earl about a project undertaken by a S&P 500 company to overcome this obstacle and reign in its electronic records. Come and learn some of the real-world challenges that were faced by a records manager before, during, and after the implementation of a large electronic document management system.

About Earl:

Earl Rich currently works for the Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD) as the Document Services Manager and RMLO for the District. In addition to this, he spent 12 years working in all facets of records management for an S&P 500 utility company that had operating divisions within the following industries: regulated & unregulated electricity generation/distribution/trading, natural gas distribution, wholesale natural gas trading, domestic & international waterborne shipping, high-grade coal, commercial properties, and a construction services firm comprised of mechanicals fabrication & architectural engineering companies.

Earl’s background includes the project management for a comprehensive records management initiative for all forms of corporate records; the installation, training, and support for a corporate-wide EDMS application; and the management of an internal records storage facility.

Earl graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Business Degree from St. Leo University; he also holds the designation of Certified Records Manager (CRM).
